what is the punishment for black magic in islam

As salamu allaiqum

Practicing black magic is considered an act of Kufr and Shirk  This is because it usually involves seeking help from shaitan and performing rituals that glorify them instead of Allah.

One of the Seven Destructive Sins: Prophet Muhammad categorized black magic as one of the seven Al-Mubiqat" that ruin a person's life and their afterlife.

No Portion in the Hereafter: According to the Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 102), those who trade their soul for magic will have no share of happiness or reward in the Hereafter.

Legal islamic Punishment

The majority of Islamic jurists including Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Malik, and Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal hold the view that the punishment for a confirmed practitioner of black magic  is death

State Authority Only: It is crucial to note that this punishment can only be carried out by a legitimate Islamic state or a judicial court. An individual or a group is never allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Tawbah: Some scholars argue that if a magician is caught, their repentance is not accepted in this world to waive the legal punishment, though they may still find forgiveness with Allah in the afterlife if their heart was sincere.

Exclusion from Faith: Anyone who seeks out a magician and believes in what they say has, according to Hadith, disbelieved in what was revealed to Prophet Muhammad

Rejection of Prayers: Visiting such people or involving oneself in these dark arts can lead to one's prayers not being accepted for 40 days, and in extreme cases if it involves Shirk, it can take a person out of the fold of Islam.
